Applies to ClikMate 1.0.1 and later for Windows.
1.Who is responsible
ClikMate is a Windows desktop application by Allways Startup. The party responsible for the data described here is: Allways Startup. For any question about this policy or about your data, contact: allwaysstartup@gmail.com.
2.What ClikMate does and what it captures
ClikMate records what you do on your computer and repeats it. To do that, and only while you use it:
- Keyboard and mouse. While you record a macro, ClikMate registers the keys you press and the mouse movements and clicks you make, and it can identify which window or control is under the pointer using Windows accessibility functions. The same keyboard hooks are what make the application's global shortcuts work while another window is in front. To replay a macro, ClikMate sends that input to Windows.
- Typed text. A "Type text" step stores the text exactly as it was typed. If you type a password while recording, that password ends up inside the macro, on your computer. Avoid recording while you type sensitive data.
- Screen, sound and microphone. If you use the Recorder, ClikMate captures the screen (or the region you choose) and, if you turn them on, the sound your computer is playing and the microphone, and saves them in an MP4 video file. Windows may ask for your permission to use the microphone; you can refuse it or withdraw it at any time in Windows privacy settings. Screen captures are saved as PNG or JPEG images and can be copied to the clipboard when you ask.
- Run history. It records which macro ran, when, how long it took and with what result. It does not store the content of what was typed.
- Activity log. A local technical log that, by default, hides typed text.
3.Where it is stored
All of the above is stored on your computer, in the folder %LOCALAPPDATA%\Allways Startup\ClikMate (in the version downloaded from the website, beside the executable if you choose portable mode): your macros, captures, recordings, settings, the run history and the activity log. The files are not encrypted: they are protected like any other file in your Windows account. Only the state of the update check is stored sealed with Windows data protection (DPAPI).
4.What leaves your computer
ClikMate has no accounts, advertising or telemetry, and it does not send your macros, captures, recordings or error reports anywhere. Error reports are kept only on your computer, and you decide whether to copy them.
The only network communication in ClikMate's code is an HTTPS request to allwaysstartup.com to read a small, digitally signed file (update.json) that states the current version. It is made when the application opens and every 10 minutes while it is open. If more than 24 hours pass without being able to verify it, the application asks you to connect to the internet to continue. The request carries an identification header with the application's name and version (for example, ClikMate/1.0.1 (Windows)) and includes no data about you, your computer or your content. As with any internet connection, the server that receives the request sees the IP address it comes from.
In the version downloaded from the website, if you choose to update, the application also downloads the new executable from allwaysstartup.com and checks its SHA-256 fingerprint against the one in the signed file before using it.
If you install ClikMate from the Microsoft Store, the application also asks Windows whether an update is pending; that query is made by Windows with the Microsoft Store services. Also, if you install from the Microsoft Store, Microsoft processes the installation and updates under its own privacy policy.
5.Donations
ClikMate is free. The donation button is voluntary: it opens, in your browser, a payment page hosted by a third party (Stripe). ClikMate does not process payments, does not receive any donation data and does not unlock anything in exchange.
6.How to delete your data
You can delete macros and the run history from within the application. To remove everything, delete the folder %LOCALAPPDATA%\Allways Startup\ClikMate (or the data folder beside the executable, in portable mode). Uninstalling ClikMate may keep or remove that folder depending on how you installed it; if you want nothing left behind, check afterwards that the folder is gone and delete it yourself.
7.Changes to this policy
If this policy changes, the new version will be published at allwaysstartup.com with its update date.
